Mullen Monkeys: best buds

Jake and Austin are cousins and are only 5 days apart.

They are tHe bEst oF fRiEnDs!

These lucky boys have gotten to celebrate their birthdays together the last few years because Austins dad is in the Airforce and they've been stationed at Hill Air Force Base for the last 3 1/2 years. Unfortunately they will be getting orders soon and will be moving away this summer.

This year we had their birthday party at Classic Fun Center in Layton. This is such a fun place and everyone had a BLAST!! Check out their pirate cake!!

Here are AJ, Maddie and Kirstyn ready to get their skatin' and skootin' on! Not only can you rollerskate but you can also bring your skooters and big wheels and ride around! This makes it really fun for the younger kids as well.

Time for PRESENTS!!

We decided to keep it simple and just have Jake and Austin give each other presents. They both gave each other the same thing (due to nice planning of Jen and I)

These babies were a hit!! They had both seen these guns and wanted them for themselves but wrapped them up for their bud not knowing they were also getting one!! Needless to say they were both ecstatic! Look at their faces!! Austin's got some crazy eyes going on! Watch out if you see him around with this gun! If any of you have boys this age, actually, any age (including husbands) you've got to get one of these!! They are so fun! I even play with it! It's a laser so there aren't any bullets but the bottles go flying off the base when you shoot them! Really fun!!

Here are the party goers!! Our kids our so lucky to be close to so many cousins!! We sure miss the Harrisons, Openshaws, and Shumways at party's like this!!!

I can't believe you two are 5!! This will be such a fun year!

My sister Jen and I say that they are really supposed to be twins but no mother could handle both of them so this is as close as they could get!! One funny (and kind of scary) story about these two is when they were 2, we were playing in the backyard (fenced in) at Jen's house and she and I both got a phone call at the same time so we ran in to get our phones. We sat watching them through the sliding glass door but not as intently as we should have (knowing them). After a while we couldn't see them and started calling for them and realized they were not in the backyard anymore. She and I split up and after panicking, crying, and asking all the neighbors if they'd seen them, Jen drove around and found them two blocks behind her house swinging bats as they walked down the sidewalk! They just smiled at her and said hi having no idea they had done anything wrong. They had gotten through the fence and walked through the yards of the people that lived behind her. This is just one example of what these two do when they are together. They get a certain look in there eye almost like they can read each other mind!!
